MEET THE ARTIST
Hi! My name is Sasha, and I am so glad you’re here!!!!!!
CALL ME OBSESSED
I have been absolutely wedding obsessed with from day one. My favourite activities as a kid included playing dress-up in my grandmother's wedding dress and dancing around the living room with my grandfather. Eventually my grandmother got tired of me ruining her dress and sewed me me own out of old lace curtains; I think I wore it twice before going back to her gown. I wore it up until I realized I couldn't zip up the back anymore.
As a teenager my dream was to get engaged at prom and be married by 18 which (thankfully) did not happen, although I did have a close call in my early 20s!
All this to say that I was absolutely born wedding obsessed and I will do everything in my power to help you achieve your picture perfect wedding! From tips and tricks, to preferred vendors, to timeline help, and a beautifully curated wedding guide, you have built-in wedding day bestie with me.
MY STYLE
You might notice while viewing my portfolio that I take a very fluid approach to my photography. My core belief is to create the most authentic representation of your wedding as I can. You've spent months if not years envisioning your wedding exactly as you've curated it and I will not ruin your vision by overly manipulating your images.
EDITING STYLE
The best way I describe my editing style is "true to life" and "timeless". You've carefully selected your wedding colours and they will come out looking like the colours you chose to the very best of my ability. While I call myself a "mood editor", I consistently edit my wedding photos light and vibrant as I feel they best describe the happiness and joy that comes with a wedding day! Bottom-line: I want you be just as in-love with your wedding photos 50 years from now, as you were the day you received them.
When it comes to editing creative sessions or branding the "mood" or "vibe" I edit in all depends on your vision and the final goal we're working towards.
CAPTURE STYLE
Candid vs. Posed, Photojournalistic vs Editorial. First of all, what does all of it really mean? I have two types of brides that come to me: the type who are looking for that magazine worthy shot and are willing to put in the time and effort to help me achieve it, and the type who would rather a more effortless, fly-on-the-way type of approach where I catch moments as they're happening.
While most photographers tend to have a preference, I honestly love both equally. So, what does that mean for your photos? Through our meetings, I usually already get a good sense of where on the sliding scale you fall but I also send out a questionnaire ahead of your wedding to solidify what approach I'll be taking on the day of.
MY INSPIRATION
We live in a digital world where we're constantly being bombarded with ideas from every direction. I've recently made it my mission to be more intentional with where my inspiration comes from. Here's what I've come up with:
1. Grandma's Pictures
Other than spending way too much time wearing her wedding dress, I would also drag out every photo album she owned and slowly go through them one at a time. It's definitely where I got my love for film photography and all the complex colours and textures film provides. With the added costs associated with film (especially nowadays) and only having 36 exposures to play with, there's a certain intentionality that comes with film that doesn't come with the "better to take too much than not enough" mentality that we're privileged to have in the world of digital photography.
2. Photojournalism
Often when you think about emotionally impactful images through history, photojournalism is at the forefront. Think of "lunch atop a skyscraper" or "V-J Day Kiss in Times Square". I'm a highly observational person and love capturing the little (and big) unscripted moments as they happen. I often feel like this moments turn into photographs that carry the most emotion long into the future. I'll often create scenes and use prompting rather than static posing as well as I find that these images carry a similar "vibe". Prompting and getting movement into your photos is also fantastic if I'm working side by side with a videographer as they require movement for all that they do.
3. Art in all its forms
Prior to launching my career as a photographer, I worked at a local art museum where the curator had a special interest in photography and it gave me special insight on what constitutes a museum quality image. The most notable aspect the rotating exhibitions shared where that the collection of images represented a study on a specific subject (which was done with all mediums of art). I feel like keeping this in mind provides a wholistic approach to capturing your wedding in a way where you truly get to re-live you most special day far beyond just looking at pretty pictures. I'll always include the miss-fired shot or the slightly less than perfect shot if it means making sure you get the whole story.
LET'S GET PERSONAL
MY WHY
I've rewritten this a handful of times, trying to put into words something that feels so deeply rooted in me. Here’s the best way I can say it right now (check back in a couple of months—haha).
Growing up, I moved back and forth across the country, never staying in one place long enough to keep friends. Later, I became a mom and moved to the middle of nowhere, and that feeling of isolation only deepened. Then, photography changed everything.
Suddenly, I was making real connections—bonding with incredible women at my boudoir events, laughing with brides and their best friends while they got ready, and forming friendships with fellow photographers and wedding vendors. Through my camera, I found my people.
Because of this journey, I know how important it is to feel seen, valued, and celebrated. That’s what I bring to every wedding and boudoir session I photograph—creating a space where you can truly be yourself, surrounded by love.
I genuinely feel like there's healing in me every time I pick up the camera, and I want to thank you for being part of that. If you're looking for a photographer who values connection as much as the photos themselves, I’d love to be part of your story.
MY FAMILY
I'm a mom to two Covid babies born 14 months apart! Pregnancy and motherhood was definitely a inspiration and motivating factor that pushed me towards photography. After losing my job early in the pandemic, I hadn't been able to afford maternity photos. Armed with $9 worth of curtains from a thrift store and an iPhone, my best friend helped me take photos I absolutely adored. Walking through the creative process from start to finish was the awakening that propelled me into buying my first "real" camera.
Along with my partner, Adam there is never a dull moment in our household! We live in a 200 year old farm house with our two rescue cats and two rescue miniature pigs.
MY HOBBIES
Other than the obvious, taking pictures, my hobbies include reading and dancing.
I started traditional Egyptian belly dancing when I was fourteen. After moving back to New Brunswick from Quebec City, I struggled finding classes suited to my caliber and slowly lost my way in the dance world. After a few years off I found Heels classes in Fredericton and felt like myself again. I still occasionally take classes and belly dance at home to keep my body moving.
My favourite book genres are Romantacy and Dark Romance. My current favourites are the Throne of Glass and the Empyrean series with Quicksilver and Flesh and Fire (and Blood and Ash) series coming close behind
MY CAREER
Fresh out of high school I took a year off school to work and save up for my education. I ended up working in a hotel and loved it so much I went to the best hospitality and business school in Canada and jumped right into a hotel management career. I loved the fast pace and the chaos of it all which translated well into weddings.
From there I rose up the ranks fast and by 21 I was head hunted to manage the tourism and business development department for Kings Landing where I specialized in international markets. This is when Covid hit and I was the first to go. From there I started (and failed) my own flower farm, helped the Beaverbrook Art gallery re-launch their Visitor Service department, and started my own photography business.
